David G. Such received his B.A. in anthropology from California State University, Fullerton. He studied ethnomusicology and folklore at UCLA, where he received his Ph.D. in 1985. Such has taught jazz and ethnomusicology at UCLA and San Diego State University. He is a multi-instrumentalist who performs jazz, Near Eastern music, Eastern European music, and alternative rock.
