Isabelle Maynard immigrated to California in 1948; she now lives in Emeryville. For thirty-five years she was an administrative social worker in the San Francisco Bay area; she is also an actor, painter, teacher, and oral historian. Her stories have appeared in many literary magazines, and her play, The Ace, was produced in 1987.
